CANDACE'S VISION FOR DISTRICT 2
As the mayor of Hyattsville, I am known as someone who gets things done. I led the council out of dysfunction and set standards for resident engagement, established a community policing policy that makes our city a model for others, and enacted policies that removed barriers to participating in local government for all residents, regardless of citizenship status. But, I didn’t do it alone.
Our communities are full of leaders—people who invest their time to build better schools and neighborhoods. You deserve to have a real partner working with and for you to create the legacies we dream of for our families.
My vision for Prince George’s is simple: A Prince George’s that everyone can call home. That’s a vision that requires all of us working together, each putting in 100 percent.
That means I’ll be connecting with you to find out what matters most to you. Maybe it’s having a community that you’re proud to share with your out-of-town friends, being confident that the school around the corner is a first choice rather than a last resort. Maybe it’s having an affordable place to live, or a well-paying job near the metro so that you can get to work on time. Or maybe it’s being able to see your artwork displayed in the places you pass every day, or just knowing that when you call for help, you’ll get it.
Whatever it is, you’ll have my leadership on your side—as your partner and your neighbor—to accomplish our goals.
“Since Candace [Hollingsworth] became mayor, it seems like something will actually get done.”
- Linda Hartman, a Prince George's County resident
